Thank you for never giving up on me regardless of all the head bumping we had during my teenage years… or how outrageous an idea of mine may have seemed when shared with you. From day one you have always been by my side.
Thank you for all the volleyball games you attended and for heading all those the cheerleading fundraisers just so that we can get new uniforms and more.
Thank you for teaching me from right and wrong and for disciplining me, especially as a little one when I throw a fit. Thank you for being so strict, even during my teens when I least appreciated it. Thank you for not killing me when I had snuck out and you were waiting by the door for me upon my return. Thank you for keeping my secrets and loving me regardless of no matter how silly an idea I may have had up my sleeve. Thank you for being my shoulder to cry on and pretending to care about my insignificant worries when I just needed to vent; and actually caring when I had gone to you in tears when I have felt hopeless . Thank you for being there when I’ve needed advice or a boost of confidence.
Thank you for taking me to church and teaching me the importance of love and faith. Yes, I am even thankful for the time you made us sit through all the masses on Sunday to teach me the value of being on time.
Thank you for supporting my decision to move away for college, although as a mother it couldn’t be easy; and more so when I said I was going to move across country to fulfill my dream of living in New York City.
Thank you for all of our inside jokes and for just being weird and silly with me. Thank you for the nights of Scrabble and episodes of Bridezilla.
Thank you for all the laughs, especially the ones when we have laughed so hard we ended up in tears.
Thank you for being with me on one of the most special day’s of my life, when I had my baby boy. Thank you for running like crazy lady to catch a taxi for us to get to the hospital, although you had no idea where you were going. Thank you for being my shoulder to shed many tears that the experience had brought, the great and the bad. Thank you for the silent hugs and reassurance that all would be okay.
Thank you for the following weeks of company, entertainment, my listening ear and the help.
Thank you for being the perfect balance of “my mother” and “friend”. As the years have passed, we have become even better friends, but I know you will always first and foremost be my mom. Thank you for everything!
Because of you, I know exactly the kind of mother I want to be.
